The Karachi BRT Red Line was initiated by the Government of Sindh and ADB with a shared vision of increasing the use of quality public transport in the densely populated city of Karachi by delivering the 26.6 km corridor and associated facilities directly benefiting 1.5 million people.

The KBRT Red Line, will pass through major urban areas of the city, originating from Malir Halt and terminating at Tower via Malir Cantonment, Safoora, University Road and Numaish. The main corridor (24.2km) extends from Malir Halt to Numaish and the common corridor (2.4km) from Municipal Park to Tower.
